The U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Department of Agriculture are reminding travelers to follow U.S. customs laws as they ship or travel with plants, produce, or other items. As the summer travel months begin, the agencies have partnered to warn about foreign products that may contain invasive pests that could potentially harm U.S. agriculture.

“USDA and CBP know that agriculture items shipped in express courier packages can be a dangerous pathway for invasive pests and diseases to enter our country,” said CBP Acting Executive Assistant Commissioner Diane Sabatino. “The good news is the public can help us protect the things they love, like healthy animals and plants, fresh and affordable food, and lush forests. Just use the checklist before you ship or receive using express couriers.”

“You should know what could be hitchhiking in or on those items—invasive plant and animal diseases and pests,” said Deputy Administrator Dr. Mark Davidson of USDA’s Plant Protection and Quarantine. “Once these threats enter our country, they could harm our crops, livestock, and ecosystems.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Acting Commissioner Pete Flores as he oversees U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
  • For Secretary Doug Burgum to receive God’s guidance as he manages the USDA.
  • For President Trump and members of his administration as they discuss trade and tariffs with foreign ministers and heads of state.
