All Scripture is breathed by God. – 2 Timothy 3:16
A survey from Barna found that most American adults believe that culture plays a role in establishing moral norms. However, a majority also agrees that “the Bible provides us with absolute moral truths which are the same for all people in all situations, without exception.” There is even broad agreement across age groups, which is surprising considering there are notable generational differences on other questions related to morality.
Proverbs 30:5 says, “Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.” Absolute truth has its source in the Lord. No human can think up or discover a new truth. Truth has always existed in His nature. He is the author of truth and you can always find that in His Word. Paul wrote, in 1 Corinthians 2:12, “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.“
Paul also described Scripture as “inspired” and literally “breathed out by God.” Although the Creator spoke these words through human authors, the Bible provides foundational information to inspire and guide you in navigating your decisions. When you read God’s Word, ask the Lord for deeper revelation and understanding of His truth by His Spirit. As you study and assimilate His Word into your life, you can count on the Holy Spirit to guide you in the truth (John 16:13). Intercede for public servants on Capitol Hill to do the same.

Consider how I love your precepts!
Give me life according to your steadfast love.
160 The sum of your word is truth,
and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.
161 Princes persecute me without cause,
but my heart stands in awe of your words.
162 I rejoice at your word
like one who finds great spoil.
163 I hate and abhor falsehood,
but I love your law.
164 Seven times a day I praise you
for your righteous rules.
165 Great peace have those who love your law;
nothing can make them stumble.
166 I hope for your salvation, O Lord,
and I do your commandments.
167 My soul keeps your testimonies;
I love them exceedingly.
168 I keep your precepts and testimonies,
for all my ways are before you.
