Secretary Rollins says her department is focused on “appropriate and lawful participation.”
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) recently announced new requirements for states to share all data related to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits with the federal government. The move comes in response to President Donald Trump’s executive order, signed in March, which mandates that federal agencies ensure comprehensive access to data from all federally funded state programs.
The USDA expects this step to enhance oversight and prevent improper use of SNAP by providing the federal government with real-time visibility into participant eligibility and transactions, including information previously held by EBT processors and other third parties.
“For years, this program has been on autopilot, with no USDA insight into real-time data. The Department is focused on appropriate and lawful participation in SNAP, and today’s request is one of many steps to ensure SNAP is preserved for only those eligible,” said Secretary Brooke Rollins.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Rollins to be led by God as she manages the USDA and its many agencies.
- For Administrator James Miller as he oversees the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service.
- For USDA officials as they review and evaluate programs within the department for efficiency.
