President Donald Trump plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin “as soon as we can get it set up.” Ukrainian and Russian officials met on Friday to discuss ending the war after President Putin declined to meet with President Zelensky on Thursday. President Trump had been willing to attend the meeting as well.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “I think it’s abundantly clear that the only way we’re going to have a breakthrough here is between President Trump and President Putin.”
President Trump said, “I think in two or three weeks we could have [the world] be a much, much safer place. We’re going to handle a couple of situations that you have here. We have some very serious situations.”
