Vice President JD Vance, Second Lady Usha Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his wife Jeanette are part of the U.S. delegation in Rome, Italy, for the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV.

The vice president, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, congratulated the new pope earlier this month, stating, “I’m sure millions of American Catholics and other Christians will pray for his successful work leading the Church. May God bless him!”
Pope Leo was born Robert Francis Prevost in Chicago, Illinois, making him the first pontiff from the U.S. to preside at the Vatican. During his ministry in the faith before serving at the Vatican as a cardinal, he spent years of his priesthood in Peru.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the safety of the vice president, secretary of state, and their wives as they travel and represent the U.S. at the pope’s inaugural mass.
- For President Trump and his administration officials as they seek to strengthen religious protections in the U.S.
- For the Lord to work through Pope Leo XIV to be a faithful representative of Christ and the Catholic Church.
