He reiterates that there’s no military solution to the Ukraine war, only a diplomatic one.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio responded to the downgraded peace talks after it was revealed that neither President Vladimir Putin nor President Zelensky would attend the meeting that had been scheduled for Thursday in Istanbul, Turkey. President Donald Trump had expressed willingness to attend the meeting that was proposed by President Putin.
Before a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, Secretary Rubio said, “[President Trump] has been abundantly clear he wants the war to end. He’s open to virtually any mechanism that gets us to a just, enduring, and lasting peace, and that’s what he wants to see.”
The secretary of state continued, “We are open to being constructive and helpful in any way we can to end the conflict.“
“I will say this and I’ll repeat it, that there is no military solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This war is going to end not through a military solution but through a diplomatic one, and the sooner an agreement can be reached on ending this war, the less people… will die and the less destruction there will be,” Secretary Rubio added.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Rubio to be led by the Lord as he engages with foreign leaders.
- For Envoy Witkoff as he meets to negotiate peace with international heads of state.
- For wisdom for President Trump as he seeks to facilitate the end of the war in Ukraine.
