President Donald Trump is prepared to join President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine in Istanbul, Turkey, today for peace talks with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. The meeting has been somewhat uncertain as the Russian president had not confirmed he would engage in direct discussions.
U.S. Special Envoy Keith Kellogg stated, “We’re hoping President Putin shows up as well, and then President Trump will be there. This could be an absolutely incredible meeting. We can get peace, I really believe, pretty fast if all three leaders sit down and talk.”
Various U.S. Senate committees are holding budget and confirmation hearings today. Committees and subcommittees of the House of Representatives are holding a variety of oversight and budget hearings.
Today, the justices of the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments for an emergency appeal by President Trump’s administration to restrict nationwide injunctions from district judges.
