The department has published advisories as Americans prepare for travel season.
The State Department recently updated its travel advisories ahead of the summer months, the most popular season for Americans traveling abroad, adding countries and regions to its four threat levels.
Multiple Mexican states have been added to the department’s “Do Not Travel” list, the highest of the four travel warnings, due to the increased dangers of kidnapping, violence, and widespread crime. Gaza is under this advisory as well since Israel continues its siege on the Hamas-controlled region. The department also warns U.S. citizens not to travel to Russia for any reason, citing the war between that nation and Ukraine as well as the probability of wrongful detention.
Other nations on the State Department’s “Do Not Travel” list include Venezuela, North Korea, Yemen, Iran, South Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq, Ukraine, Haiti, Somalia and Sudan.
Other countries have been added to the department’s Level 2 list, “Exercise Increased Caution.” Travelers should remain vigilant as crime, civil unrest, and the threat of terrorism have slightly increased. Countries on this list include Saudi Arabia, China, and Spain.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Rubio and State Department officials as they seek to protect Americans from violence, crime, and potential wrongful imprisonment in foreign lands.
- For ambassadors and envoys who are working toward the release of U.S. citizens who have been imprisoned by other countries.
