Saturday, May 10

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer meet with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in Geneva, Switzerland, today to discuss trade negotiations.

“This isn’t sustainable, as I said before, especially on the Chinese side,” Secretary Bessent said. The current tariffs are “the equivalent of an embargo. We don’t want to decouple. What we want is fair trade.”

“At President Trump’s direction, I am negotiating with countries to rebalance our trade relations to achieve reciprocity, open new markets, and protect America’s economic and national security,” Trade Representative Greer stated. “I look forward to having productive meetings with some of my counterparts, as well as visiting with my team in Geneva who all work diligently to advance U.S. interests on a range of multilateral issues.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Treasury Secretary Bessent and Trade Representative Greer to receive God’s guidance as they discuss trade with the Chinese Vice Premier.
  • For President Trump and members of his trade team as they negotiate agreements with international partners.
  • For God’s purposes and plans to be accomplished in and through the president’s administration.
