His memo to Pentagon leadership outlines the realignment of military ethos.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth sent a memo to Pentagon leadership last week outlining the new Defense Department priority to achieve domestic and international “peace through strength.” Secretary Hegseth said this new goal will motivate the department to make a number of cuts to eliminate waste, modernize its capabilities, and update military technologies.
The defense secretary stated, “To build a leaner, more lethal force, the Army must transform at an accelerated pace by divesting outdated, redundant, and inefficient programs, as well as restructuring headquarters and acquisition systems.”
Secretary Hegseth further directed Army Secretary Dan Driscoll to “implement a comprehensive transformation strategy, streamline its force structure, eliminate wasteful spending, reform the acquisition process [and] modernize inefficient defense contracts.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Hegseth to seek the Lord’s direction as he heads the Defense Department.
- For officials in the Pentagon to be discerning as they respond to the defense secretary’s leadership.
