Labor Department Commits to Expanding AI Education and Workforce Training

Labor secretary announces deputy secretary as head of task force ordered by President Trump.

Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Deputy Secretary Keith Sonderling expressed support for President Trump’s executive order, “Advancing Artificial Intelligence Education for American Youth.” The order establishes a White House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence Education and directs the Department of Labor to focus on equipping the workforce for the evolving job market impacted by AI.

“Artificial intelligence is reshaping the job market, and it’s critical we equip our workers with the skills they need to lead in this new era,”  said Deputy Secretary Sonderling.

The initiative includes expanding apprenticeships, encouraging the use of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds for AI skill development, and promoting AI literacy nationwide. The order also calls for collaboration with the National Science Foundation and the Department of Education to promote AI coursework and certifications, particularly for high school students.

Secretary Chavez-DeRemer said, “As our nation continues to step into the future, I am committed to ensuring our workforce is ready. There’s no one I trust more to help me carry out this mission than my deputy, Keith, whose expertise in AI makes him a natural fit to spearhead this effort.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Chavez-DeRemer to be led by the Lord as she heads the Labor Department.
  • For Deputy Secretary Sonderling to be discerning as he leads the Task Force on Artificial Intelligence Education.
