Defense Department to Reduce Radio Programs on AFN Go

The department seeks to streamline operations with existing radio stations.

The Department of Defense (DoD) announced last week that it will be reducing radio programs and commercially produced podcasts broadcast through the American Forces Network (AFN), its international media service for military audiences. These programs will wrap up by May 1, but the DoD encourages AFN listeners to enjoy its other programs.

“The AFN Go app has seen audience growth of more than 30-percent in the past year, with listeners streaming nearly 480,000 hours of radio programming in January alone,” the Defense Department stated.

“AFN takes pride in its 83-year legacy of serving U.S. military audiences overseas. Along with enhancing troop morale, retention and recruiting, as well as safety and security, AFN continues to live up to its motto, ‘We Bring You Home.’”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Pete Hegseth to be led by God as he oversees the Department of Defense.
  • For Pentagon officials to be discerning as they assess the budget and spending in the department.
