He calls the president “the most consequential leader of the 21st century.”
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson met with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office this week to discuss the reconciliation package Congress is working on. The legislation includes a renewal of tax cuts President Trump instituted during his first term.
Speaker Johnson said that President Trump has accomplished more in the first 100 days of his second term than “most politicians or presidents accomplish in their entire lifetimes.”
The House speaker continued, “He’s issued, I think, 110 executive orders and many other executive actions. And we’ve been working to codify so much of that. It’s been kind of a partnership.”
Speaker Johnson added, “I think that he’s doing what is within his scope to do. There’s an assumption made by Congress that the administration, whoever is in the administration, will use the money that is appropriated to the executive branch as a good steward, that they will take every measure possible to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, however, characterized President Trump’s second term as a “disaster.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Speaker Johnson and other congressional party leaders as they work on legislation to fund President Trump’s agenda.
- For the House speaker and Senate majority leader as they seek to codify the president’s executive orders and actions.
