What do you do when life gets challenging? How do you react to the stresses and difficulties that come at you “out of the blue?” Life is hard enough even when things are seemingly going well. But, when health problems emerge, a job loss comes, or relational issues occur, how do you respond deep within?
When Jesus walked the earth, He spent many hours in prayer, being reliant on the Father. He could not go it alone. Neither can you. Jesus spoke often of the power of prayer. In Matthew 21:21-22, He said, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer you will receive, if you have faith.”
God tells you to place your trust in Him. “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations” (Deuteronomy 7:9). He tells you that He is reliable; your job is to trust Him! Remember that it takes far more energy to worry than to pray!
Express your confidence in God to those around you. Pray for others, including those in the highest levels of government, to turn from their own devices, wisdom, and ideologies, and discover that God alone is reliable.
