Congressman Files Articles of Impeachment Against President Trump

Some in his own party disagree with the move.

Representative Shri Thanedar of Michigan announced Monday that he has filed seven articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, each citing an action taken by President Trump’s administration. Included in the filings are references to the deportation of a Salvadoran man to El Salvador’s maximum security prison and funding cuts made by DOGE without the approval of Congress.

“Donald Trump has already done real damage to our democracy, but defying a unanimous 9-0 Supreme Court ruling, that has to be the one final straw,” Representative Thanedar stated, referencing a decision on the deportation case.

However, his colleague, Representative Debbie Dingell, also from Michigan, called the move “a distraction.”

“I don’t agree with my colleague on what he did,” Congresswoman Dingell said. “I think we need to be focused on the issues that people talk about at the kitchen table every night and show them what they’re doing. I think this next month, we’re gonna be very focused on protecting people’s healthcare, making sure that we keep rural hospitals operating, that our children and our seniors are gonna have access to the healthcare that they need and be taken care of in their retirement. That’s what we need to be focused on and delivering.”

Articles of impeachment require a two-thirds majority to pass the House. Since the president’s party controls just over half of the chamber, it is unlikely that any of the articles will reach a floor vote.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of Congress as they consider priorities and what will benefit the nation.
  • For President Trump and members of his Cabinet as they pursue the administration’s agenda.
