The department warns of additional layoffs in the future.
The Education Department emailed its employees on Friday, offering $25,000 or severance pay, “whichever is less,” if they choose to quit before 11:59 p.m. on Monday. A department official confirmed the email on Monday, which warned of even more layoffs in the near future.
“This is a one time offer in advance of a very significant Reduction in Force for the U.S. Department of Education,” the department’s chief human capital officer Jacqueline Clay wrote in the email. She went on to outline which employees were ineligible for the payout, such as those who recently received a bonus or those who have been employed at the department for less than three years.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Education Department officials as they seek to comply with President Trump’s reduction in force policies.
- For wisdom for the president and DOGE officials as they continue to pare down the federal workforce.
