Annual National Defense Bill Approved by the House

Speaker Johnson says, “The safety and security of the American people is our top priority.“

The House of Representatives voted along party lines this week to approve this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), sending the $883.7 billion legislation to the Senate.

The budget- and policy-setting package includes a number of bipartisan provisions, including a 14.5 percent pay raise for junior enlisted service members. One provision that did not receive bipartisan support would prevent Defense Department healthcare from covering transgender interventions for minors.

“We’re proud of this product,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said. “The safety and security of the American people is our top priority, and this year’s NDAA ensures our military has the resources and the capabilities needed to remain the most powerful fighting force on the planet.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of the Senate as they consider the NDAA provisions and prepare to vote on the package.
  • For wisdom for Speaker Johnson and other leaders in the House as they determine the priorities of the remaining weeks in this session.
