Vice President to Attend Ukraine Peace Summit in Switzerland

President Biden will be unavailable due to a previously scheduled event.

Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Switzerland in President Joe Biden’s stead to attend the Summit on Peace in Ukraine on June 15. Though Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously urged President Biden to attend on behalf of the United States, President Biden has a high-profile campaign event scheduled in Los Angeles for that day.

Vice President Harris’ office announced that her attendance at the meeting will “underscore the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s effort to secure a just and lasting peace, based on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the principles of the UN Charter.”

National security communications official John Kirby explained the president’s scheduling decision, highlighting his previous advocacy and commitment to Ukraine. Advisor Kirby added that the vice president’s summit attendance is “high level, very serious representation by the United States.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president, vice president, and administration officials as they prepare for the upcoming peace summit and the G7 summit.
  • For Vice President Harris to seek God’s guidance as she represents the United States in Switzerland.
