Today, President Joe Biden has ordered American flags to be flown at half-staff to recognize National Fallen Fighters Memorial Weekend. The president’s administration recognizes the 89 firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2023.
The president stated in his proclamation, “Their extraordinary courage embodies the best of America — with every call they answer, they put their lives on the line to keep the rest of us safe. It is more than what they do; it is who they are. This weekend, we honor the brave service of every fallen hero who has made the ultimate sacrifice for our communities.“
He added, “These heroes’ courageous legacy lives on in the communities they kept safe, and in our work to be there for one another the way that they were always there for us.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

- For God’s comfort for the families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.
- For the president and members of his administration as they commemorate the fallen firefighters.
