Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. – 1 Peter 4:8
There is power in repetition. Literacy advocate Bernie McDermid says, “Repetition helps [a person] recognize that learning is not merely a one-time event but a continuous process of building upon previous knowledge.” He says, positive attitudes, confidence, and a strengthened understanding empower one for success. Pastor Ben Smith, Sr., agrees, writing, “The more critical the truth, the more often it should be repeated. The more vital the principle, the more regularly it should be expressed.”
Being a follower of Christ is a lifelong learning experience. However, it is far more than an academic exercise. It is a lifestyle, and one that is based on a simple but very profound command of the Lord, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” It is because God wants you truly committed to that life that He consistently showers you with those words in many ways and from many sources throughout Scripture. He desires that of you because it is evidence of Who He is. He wants His righteousness and His love to shine through your life. The love Jesus calls you to extend to others is truly supernatural—it comes through you only by the power of the Holy Spirit. It results from spending time with Him in disciplined prayer and the study of your Bible.
Just as a child learns to tie his shoes, it takes repetitive practice to get it right. The same is true with extending God-honoring love. It must be done again and again. While there may be a risk in a world becoming more and more hostile to the Gospel, this is your mission. It is not optional, and it is urgent because the time is short. So, keep loving, as Peter states in today’s verse. Acknowledge and encourage such love when you see it from those in government, while you continue to pray for them.

33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’ 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
