Today, the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, chaired by Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio, is receiving an update from Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo on the Treasury Department’s efforts to counter illicit finance, terrorism, and sanctions evasion.

The Senate Caucus on International Narcotics Control, chaired by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, will examine the ways opaque corporate structures facilitate transnational criminal activity and discuss the ways shell companies are used to finance, traffic, and launder proceeds from illicit narcotics and synthetic opioids, such as fentanyl.

The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, is holding a full committee hearing titled “Small Print, Big Impact: Examining the Effects of Forced Arbitration.”

The Senate Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Defense, chaired by Senator Jon Tester of Montana, will hear testimony from the Air Force secretary, the Air Force chief of staff, and the chief of Space Operations regarding the 2025 fiscal year budget request.
