Secretary Yellen To Meet with Chinese Counterpart

The financial leader seeks increased communication between the U.S. and China.

Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen will meet with her Chinese counterpart, He Lifeng, at the World Bank meeting this week to maintain the ongoing financial dialogue between the U.S. and China.

Speaking in Anchorage, Alaska, this past week, Secretary Yellen expressed a desire to work with China to stabilize the global economy. She recognized the strain that exists between both countries due to individual financial decisions but believes more can be done to collaborate on mutual goals as long as communications are increased.

“We went for too long with too little communication, and misunderstandings developed. So, President Biden and President Xi agreed when they met in California that they would continue to stay in touch periodically,” Secretary Yellen said. “My counterpart and I have commissioned these workgroups that report to us and we’re gathering, and I expect that we will continue to meet periodically as well as the work groups. So, I expect this to be an ongoing set of interactions.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the treasury secretary to receive God’s guidance as she meets with the finance minister of China.
  • For U.S. officials to be prudent in their financial and economic decisions in dealings with and surrounding China.
