The directors of National Intelligence, Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and State Department’s Intelligence Division testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee this week concerning the agencies’ 2024 Annual Threat Assessment report.

FBI Director Wray stated, “From an FBI perspective, we are seeing a wide array of very dangerous threats that emanate from the border, and that includes everything from the drug trafficking, and the FBI alone sees enough fentanyl in the last two years to kill 270 million people.” He added, “That’s just on the fentanyl side. An awful lot of violent crime in the United States is at the hands of gangs who are themselves involved in the distribution of that fentanyl.”

The agency heads also discussed China and Russia. Trade between the two countries has grown significantly since Russia began its attack on Ukraine. CIA Director William Burns stated his belief that Ukraine’s continued defense has kept China from pursuing similar tactics against its own neighbors in the Indo-Pacific.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the directors of the various U.S. intelligence agencies to be discerning in their assessment of threats to national security.
  • For wisdom for members of the Senate and House intelligence committees in their oversight of the U.S. intelligence community.
  • For the president and his national security advisors to receive God’s direction as they respond to threats.
