Classified Document Leaker Pleads Guilty

U.S. Air National Guard member faces years in prison.

The Massachusetts Air National Guard Member who leaked classified military documents on the social media platform Discord pled guilty to six counts of willful retention and transmission of classified information. Jack Teixeria admitted to violating the Espionage Act when he used his top secret clearance to release one of the largest military leaks in history in a messaging channel of online gamers.

The Air Force inspector general reported that leaders and members of Teixeria’s unit “had information about as many as four separate instances of his questionable activity.” The service disciplined 15 personnel after the report stated that some had “failed to report the full details of these security concerns/incidents.”

Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen, of the Department of Justice’s National Security Division, said the plea “brings a measure of closure to a chapter that created profound harms for our nation’s security.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the secretaries and commanders of U.S. Armed Forces branches as they seek to ensure the security of classified information.
  • For Justice Department officials as they investigate and prosecute federal crimes.
