Chair of Select Committee on China Heads Delegation to Taiwan

China says the U.S. needs to be “mindful of the extreme complexity and sensitivity“ of its relationship with Taiwan.

U.S. Representative Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin headed a delegation of U.S. legislators on a visit to Taiwan.

The U.S. embassy in Taiwan stated the delegation would “meet with senior Taiwan leaders and members of civil society to discuss U.S.-Taiwan relations, regional security, trade and investment, and other significant issues of mutual interest.”

China continues to claim Taiwan as its territory. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said, “China opposes any form of official interaction between the U.S. and Taiwan authorities and rejects U.S. interference in Taiwan affairs in whatever form or under whatever pretext.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Congressman Gallagher and the other U.S. legislators meeting with Taiwan officials.
  • For wisdom for members of the U.S. government as they continue to show support for Taiwan.
  • For the president and his foreign advisors as they determine how to interact with Taiwan and China.
