President Biden Speaks at National Prayer Breakfast

He says, “We pray for peace.“

President Joe Biden spoke at the annual National Prayer Breakfast on Capitol Hill Thursday morning. He focused on the desire for peace for Israel and Ukraine. He said, “Not only do we pray for peace, we are actively working for peace, security, and dignity“ for Israelis, Palestinians, and Ukrainians. He said he is still working for the release of the hostages being held in Gaza.

The president added, “The challenge of our times reminds us of our responsibility as a nation to help each other. Just and lasting peace — deliver it abroad and here at home.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson spoke at the event as well, saying, “In this time of great crisis and in this moment of cultural upheaval, in an era of a completely-divided government, it is incumbent upon us to daily seek God’s wisdom in our affairs.”

Singer Andrea Bocelli sang “Amazing Grace,“ Speaker Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York each read a prayer from the Old Testament, and Senate Chaplain Barry Black delivered the keynote speech.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and members of his administration as they focus on the conflicts in the Middle East and eastern Europe.
  • For the military advisors and Pentagon leaders as they advise the president regarding responses to the attacks on U.S. troops.
  • For the purposes of the Lord to be accomplished in the United States.
  • For the peace of Jerusalem and the safe return of the hostages being held by Hamas.
