Wisdom’s Foundation

For the foolishness of God is wiser than men.     1 Corinthians 1:25

Who is the wisest person that ever lived? Solomon? Plato? Copernicus? According to today’s verse, all of these people contain only a thimbleful of wisdom compared to God. He is the Creator of the Universe, the Ancient of Days, and the Beginning and the End. How amazing are the words of John 3:16, that Someone so wise, powerful, and holy loves mere humans so much that He provided the way of salvation through His own Son!

Truly wise people apply their knowledge in ways that honor God. Solomon, who was known to be the wisest person (1 Kings 4:29-34), had seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines who turned his heart away from God (1 Kings 11:3).

Loving God and loving others is the foundation of wisdom. Jesus said all the Law and the prophets are based on these two commandments (Matthew 22:40). You may feel at a loss to understand all that is going on in the world – when in doubt, love God and love others.

Just like the foolishness of God is wiser than men, His love outshines the most compassionate people on Earth. Run to God and pray to be strong in faith, love, and wisdom, regardless of what is going on in the world. Pray for the citizens of the United States and those in authority to embrace the Lord and His truth.

Today’s Verse: 1 Corinthians 1:25

For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
