U.S. Military Strikes and Destroys Three Iraqi Militia Facilities

The strikes are a response to three militant drone attacks launched against U.S. bases.

The U.S. military conducted airstrikes against three militia facilities in Iraq this week in response to three drone strikes launched against U.S. bases in the area over the weekend. A coalition of local militias called the Islamic Resistance claimed responsibility for the strikes that occurred last weekend. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the military targeted three bases of one of the more prominent militias, Kataib Hezbollah, as a “proportionate” response to the group’s attacks.

“At President Biden’s direction, U.S. military forces conducted necessary and proportionate strikes on three facilities used by the Iranian-backed Kataib Hezbollah militia group and other Iran-affiliated groups in Iraq,” Secretary Austin stated. “These precision strikes are in direct response to a series of escalatory attacks against U.S. and Coalition personnel in Iraq and Syria by Iranian-sponsored militias.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Austin to receive discernment from the Lord as he heads the Defense Department.
  • For the defense secretary’s continued healing from the cancer surgery and hospital stay.
  • For the president and his military advisors to be prudent in their responses to militia attacks in the Middle East.
