Pentagon Plans to Install Rooftop Solar Panels

Other federal buildings will also shift to renewable energy.

The Department of Energy issued a $104 million grant for 31 government buildings to “go green.” As part of that program, the Pentagon plans to install solar panels on its rooftop at a cost of $250 million.

The Pentagon also plans for a heat recovery pump system and battery energy storage.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks said the green agenda items will make the Defense Department “more resilient” by “better securing our critical infrastructure.” She called it a win-win for “warfighters and taxpayers alike.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Pentagon officials as they prepare to implement the administration’s energy agenda.
  • For Secretary Granholm and U.S. energy officials as they promote renewable energy development.
