Wisdom Awareness

And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us as wisdom from God.
         1 Corinthians 1:30

The Corinthian church was in dispute. Many members had come to know Christ as Savior through the preaching of Peter, some by Apollos, others by Paul, and yet others through the teaching of Christ Himself. They were divided by the concept that certain people’s faith was better than others because of the message bearer. Paul turned them from their boasting and comparing by reminding them of the power of the Gospel.

Christ had died the most humiliating of deaths on the cross. He had come from the brilliance and glory of Heaven to Earth in the form of a human infant so He could redeem each person from the consequence of sin. It was He who suffered the punishment for the sins of the world. The Messiah had come, yet Christ was a stumbling block to those Jews who wanted signs. In truth, He is the power of God and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:21-25).

Because you believe in Christ Jesus, He will teach you how to live, what to choose or avoid, pursue and enjoy in your life. The closer your relationship with Him, the more you will be aware of the wisdom of God. What else is Christ to the believer? He is your righteousness and acceptance by God, and His Spirit is your sanctifier, transforming you into the likeness of Christ.

“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord” (verse 31). Give thanks today for the blessing of your salvation, as it provides you access to the wisdom of God. Pray now for those who have thought of Christ as foolishness, that they come to know Him as Savior and experience the working wisdom of God in their lives.

Today’s Verse: 1 Corinthians 1:30

And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
