December 31st – Sunday

When you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Luke 14:13-14

Though the active combat of the Second World War ceased on May 18, 1945, many processes occurred before the war formally ended. Soldiers had to be relocated, trials were held, and many people had to be returned to their own country before peace could officially be re-established. On this day in 1946, President Harry Truman signed Presidential Proclamation 2714, marking the formal and legal end of World War II. The president wrote in his declaration, “With the guidance of Almighty Providence great gains have been made in translating military victory into permanent peace.” As you lift a banner of prayer over the United States today, ask the Lord to guide those in positions of authority to bring Him honor and glory. Pray as well that God directs you in ways that will spread His love, truth, and peace going into the New Year.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For wisdom for President Biden, Secretary Austin, and leaders in the Pentagon as they determine military strategy and policy.
  • For senators and representatives to be discerning as they assess the threats posed to the United States by hostile nations.
