December 24th – Sunday

If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead. Luke 16:31

On this day in 1962, President John Kennedy agreed to grant the government of Cuba $53 million in food and medicine in exchange for the safe return of 1,113 members of the U.S. military. The Central Intelligence Agency had organized the Bay of Pigs invasion in April of that year, hoping to destabilize the government of Cuba and its alliance with the Soviet Union. However, Cuban forces defeated them, killing hundreds of soldiers and imprisoning over 1,400. In the months that followed, the U.S. came to an agreement with Cuba, partnering with private companies to source the medicine and food Cuba required in exchange for the remaining soldiers’ release. As you pray over the United States today, ask the Lord to accomplish His purposes in and through the nation’s governing officials.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For the president and secretary of state as they consider the safety of American citizens and troops around the globe.
  • For members of Congress as they prepare to continue aid negotiations to Ukraine, Israel, and security for the U.S. southern border.
