President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are visiting the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., today.
The president and first lady will meet with pediatric patients and their families as well as greet hospital medical personnel.
The tradition of first ladies visiting the hospital near the Christmas holiday began with Bess Truman after the end of World War II. President Biden first accompanied his wife to Children’s National in 2021, the first time a sitting president had made the Christmas visit.
