December 20th – Wednesday

Out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. – Matthew 18:27

The phrase “debt forgiveness“ has not only monetary meaning but spiritual meaning as well. Financial debt can be accrued through various means, such as loans for automobiles, homes, education, or other purchases. Each month payments are required to maintain or reduce that debt. However, spiritual debt is accrued from conception and is only eliminated through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Paul wrote that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), however, Jesus died on the cross to forgive all your sin so that it no longer causes spiritual death. Physical death will still occur but you will then be in heaven with your Lord and King. As you pray for those in positions of power today, ask the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts so they come to know Jesus as their Savior.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For the president and education secretary as they continue to seek ways to provide federal student loan debt relief.
  • For COO Richard Cordray as he oversees the Office of Federal Student Aid.
