Small Price to Pay

Like treasure hidden in a field.      Matthew 13:44

Some people long to be rich, searching for material treasure they think will satisfy. Others look to relationships to give them happiness or seek pleasure in an activity or occupation. Blaise Pascal, a French mathematician and inventor, once described human craving as an “infinite abyss“ that “can be filled only with an infinite and immutable object; in other words by God himself.”

Those who think not merely about the present but ponder what can be in the future will recognize that anything gained on this earth will pass away. The treasure that satisfies and has no equal is Christ Jesus, the Savior.

Many have stumbled across the treasure of Christ. Not realizing its value they passed it by. However, the Lord has always had His eye on you. Know that you were made in His image. He desires that you come to know and love Him as He has always loved you.

Eileen Berry wrote, “Through the loveless dark this lonely night/ to your empty heart there shines a light/ Glorious light of love for all to see/Jesus, Son of God, in truth must be/He is seeking you with a tender voice/ He is calling you to make a choice/Tune your ear to hear this quiet sound/He is seeking you, will you be found?”

God has sent His Son, the Light of the world, for all to see. Open your heart to the treasure that is He. The only gift you can give the Lord is to commit your heart and life to Him, following Him with dedication… a small price to pay for a glorious treasure.

Today’s Verse: Matthew 13:44

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. 19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. 21 The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.
