Administration Approves Tank Munitions Sale to Israel Without Congress

Pentagon uses emergency authority to authorize 14,000 tank shells for IDF.

On Saturday, President Biden’s administration used emergency authority to approve the sale of 14,000 tank shells for the Israel Defense Forces, with the State Department approving $106.5 million for their immediate delivery to the Middle East.

“Israel will use the enhanced capability as a deterrent to regional threats and to strengthen its homeland defense,” the Pentagon said, adding that there will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of the sale.

These 14,000 tank shells were initially included in a large defense package the White House has asked Congress to approve, which includes 45,000 more tank shells and other munitions worth over $500 million for the Israel Defense Forces.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for the president and his military advisors as they make emergency authorizations.
  • For Secretary of State Blinken as he engages in diplomatic talks surrounding the Israel-Hamas war.
  • For the peace of Jerusalem and discernment for Israel’s civil and military leaders.
