All Things

Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?     Jeremiah 32:27

Happy Thanksgiving! Today is the day people of the United States give thanks to God for all of the blessings He graciously gives this country. It is generally a day of celebration with family and feasting. While much of the population enjoys warm homes, health, and an abundance of material possessions, many may have situations that are not as bountiful or pleasant, but everyone has something to be thankful for.

Looking back over the history of the United States and the world, tragedies, wars, and natural disasters abound. Comfort can be found in today’s verse. Nothing is too hard for God. Jesus said that all things are possible with Him (Matthew 19:26). He also said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). James 4:2-3 states, “You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.” The apostle Paul said through good times and bad, he could do all things through Jesus. “I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:12-13).

Turn to the Lord in prayer, knowing nothing is too difficult for Him. Pray that Americans will turn to God and His ways. Thank God for how this nation is still blessed even through these tumultuous times and for the freedom to worship Him and declare His praises publicly.

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
    let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
    let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
3 For the Lord is a great God,
    and a great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth;
    the heights of the mountains are his also.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
    and his hands formed the dry land.

6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
    let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
7 For he is our God,
    and we are the people of his pasture,
    and the sheep of his hand.
