October 31st – Tuesday

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You. – Isaiah 26:3

Mount Rushmore was completed on this day in 1941. The project, which took 14 years to accomplish, depicts four presidents who symbolize the birth, growth, development, and preservation of the United States. Reflecting on the nature of carving images out of rock, consider the skill and the attention to detail it requires. In your daily life, have you asked the Lord to ‘chisel’ you to match His image? Part of living Christ’s life entails speaking and behaving in ways that mirror His. You do not have the capacity to accomplish this without His assistance. As you pray for those in public office today, be willing to let God advance His refinement and transformation in your life. Ask the Lord to show you any areas where you have not submitted to His will and be ready to lay them down at His feet.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For Director Chuck Sams to seek God’s guidance as he heads the National Parks Service.
  • For wisdom for Secretary Deb Haaland as she oversees the Interior Department.
