This week the House of Representatives elected a new Speaker. Representative Mike Johnson of Louisiana, the fourth nominee of the majority, was elected with no dissenting votes from his party.

The first action of the House upon Speaker Johnson’s election was to pass a resolution stating that the U.S. stands with Israel. The House next passed appropriations legislation for energy.

Speaker Mike Johnson said, “The country mandates strong leadership of this body and we must not waver.

This week, the House Financial Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations held a hearing titled “Moving the Money: Understanding the Iranian Regime’s Access to Money Around the World and How They Use It to Support Terrorism.“ The House Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Social Security held a hearing on “Improving Social Security’s Disability Adjudication Process.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for House Speaker Mike Johnson as he leads the House of Representatives.
  • For members of both the upper and lower chambers of Congress as they hold votes on government spending.
  • For the president and his foreign advisors as they develop diplomatic and military policies.
