October 18th – Wednesday

Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have learned, lest we drift away from it. – Hebrews 2:1

In today’s verse, the writer of Hebrews describes the importance of being mindful of the salvation the Lord has given so that you do not “drift away.” It is a curious thing how the human mind requires reminding in order to have clear recall and keep memories or ideas in the front of the consciousness. Not only is it vital to reread and share the gospel of Jesus Christ, making His sacrifice and power known, it is also crucial to rehearse your own testimony, letting others know how you came to the saving knowledge of Him and how He changed your life. There are few messages more compelling than the witness you provide of God’s transformation in your heart, mind, and actions. Today, as you pray for governing officials, reflect on and praise God for His awe-inspiring grace and mercy and for how He has refined you into His likeness.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • That the Lord would touch the hearts and minds of those in leadership positions in the U.S. government today.
  • For the president, and members of his administration, Congress, and the federal judiciary who do not know Him to turn to Jesus for salvation and guidance.
