Governor Newsom Appoints Laphonza Butler to Senate Seat

Former advisor to Kamala Harris to serve the remainder of late Senator Feinstein’s term.

Governor Gavin Newsom of California has appointed Laphonza Butler to complete the remaining 17 months of the late Senator Dianne Feinstein’s term. Butler is currently the president of EMILY’s List, an organization that works to elect women who support abortion to positions across the U.S.

“As we mourn the enormous loss of Senator Feinstein, the very freedoms she fought for — reproductive freedom, equal protection, and safety from gun violence — have never been under greater assault,” Governor Newsom said. “Laphonza will carry the baton left by Senator Feinstein, continue to break glass ceilings, and fight for all Californians in Washington D.C.”

Questions have been raised regarding her appointment, as Ms. Butler is a registered voter in Maryland with a residence address in Silver Springs.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Ms. Butler as she prepares to assume the vacant Senate seat.
  • For members of the Senate as they hear and deliberate legislation.
  • That God would work in the hearts of pro-abortion politicians so they would recognize the sanctity of all human life.
