You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. – Psalm 4:7

Perhaps you have experienced the type of joy that the psalmist describes in today’s verse. It is a joy that transcends the earth-bound “happiness” of the senses. Some people look to possessions such as cars, clothing or shoes, or just accumulating money, thinking that will bring them joy. Others may indulge in foods or substances that offer a change in how they feel for a time, trying to attain joy. While this material world will pass away, God’s kingdom is eternal. Happiness is fleeting and dependent on emotion based upon outer events. Joy is a state of being that comes from the Lord and is constant. Regardless of your circumstances or surroundings, you can receive the joy of the Lord today. Notice how God fills you today as you read or quote scripture passages, sing praise and worship, or fellowship with other believers in Christ!

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For followers of Christ holding in public office to shine for the Lord as they serve.
  • For governing officials at all levels of government to have their hearts drawn to God’s truth and salvation in Jesus.
