Get Excited

You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.      Psalm 4:7

In this world, there are a lot of reasons to celebrate and events to get excited about. In the United States, especially, receiving a financial windfall, succeeding in a career, or meeting a favorite celebrity are deemed to be worthy of posting on social media.

Are you that excited about Jesus? Do the words of Thoro Harris’ hymn ring true with you? “All that thrills my soul is Jesus/ He is more than life to me/ And the fairest of ten thousand/ In my blessed Lord I see.” If you have not resonated with this, take some time to commune with Him, read His Word, and ask Him to reveal Himself to you in that way. Can you imagine Him as Creator of the universe loving you and even having affection for you, as you have for your children or grandchildren?

While He blesses His people in many ways that bring great joy, He Himself is the greatest blessing of all. “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God“ (1 John 3:1). If you have been raised in an abusive family or even one that does not express affection very well, it may be hard to grasp such a loving God. Ask Him today to reveal to you how He is love (1 John 4:7-12).

Pray for the citizens and public officials of the United States to catch a fresh vision of the Holy God who is also the loving God, who sent His Son that whoever believes in Him receives eternal life (John 3:16). Ask that those who believe will move from mental assertion to a commitment to Him as Lord.

Today’s Verse: Psalm 4:7

You have put more joy in my heart
than they have when their grain and wine abound.

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
