Folly is a joy to him who lacks sense, but a man of understanding walks straight ahead. – Proverbs 15:21

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He refuted everything from Satan by using Scripture. He was confident, using good judgment and understanding as He straightforwardly handled the confrontation. In multiple places, the Bible states that the fear or reverence of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Job 28:28; Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 1:7, 9:10). Today’s verse speaks of the “joy” that fools take in their foolishness. In the moment, something may seek fun or fulfilling, but the results and consequences may be anything but! Seek God’s wisdom and guidance so you use good judgement as you walk with Him. Pray today for public officials all over this country to seek and find the Lord so they follow Him, walking straight ahead. Ask God to help you to edify and encourage those around you today.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For judges in the federal judiciary to seek the Lord’s wisdom as they hear cases and issue rulings.
  • For the president and his advisors to be discerning as they review and nominate individuals to the federal bench.
