August 11th – Friday

Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil. – 1 Kings 3:9

Every day you are faced with a spectrum of decisions and need God’s wisdom. King Solomon was placed in charge of a nation and, in today’s verse, he asked for wisdom to govern God’s people Israel. Imagine suddenly being made the ruler of a nation without having any experience! Solomon’s request pleased the Lord, who also blessed the king with riches, victory, and long life. When you seek God for His guidance and wisdom, you become equipped to discern His leading and His truth. When you follow God’s ways and apply His wisdom, you can serve others with integrity and discernment, becoming an example and leader in faith. As you pray for those who serve in the federal government today, ask the Lord to give you the strength and guidance you need to navigate the challenges and obstacles of your day. Let Him work in and through you to accomplish His will.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For wisdom for judges in the federal judiciary as they decide cases and issue rulings.
  • For the president and his advisors to seek the Lord for guidance as they set policies.
