For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. – 1 Corinthians 14:33

Today’s verse speaks to the reality that God does not author disorder. When Paul wrote these words, the church in Corinth was struggling with disagreements amongst its members over various spiritual issues. With these words, Paul reminded the church that the chaos and difficulties that come with disagreements are not from God, as they go against His very nature. While the Lord allows and does things that are difficult to understand at times, His plans and ways create order, unity, and, ultimately, peace. The foundation of the United States was upon the order of and adherence to laws, which united the colonies into States. As the moorings of the nation are challenged, and schisms and differences seem to widen, remember that God is still in control. In your prayers today, ask that believers in this nation would be a testimony to His peace that overshadows all.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For the president and his advisors to seek God’s Spirit to lead them and give them discernment.
  • For members of Congress as they endeavor to work together despite the divisions of ideology and perception.
