U.S. Citizens Being Evacuated from Sudan

Spokesman Kirby says the president authorized the action.

U.S. officials announced that a bus convoy has transported approximately 200 to 300 Americans to Port Sudan (about 500 miles), which is deemed a relatively safe area. The families of U.S. citizens had been critical of the lack of action by the government to evacuate Americans trapped in Sudan after U.S. officials were evacuated. Many of the remaining American citizens hold dual nationality.

National Security Council Spokesman John Kirby also mentioned the decision for a possible evacuation was made by President Biden. The president “authorized the military to move forward with prepositioning forces and to develop options,” Spokesman Kirby stated at the White House. Over a dozen other nations have already been carrying out evacuations for their citizens, with the use of navy vessels, military planes, and on-the-ground personnel.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. military and other officials overseeing attempts to evacuate U.S. citizens from Sudan.
  • For the president and his administration as they consider the dangerous situation Americans are experiencing in that nation.
  • For the U.S. citizens who are seeking to safely withdraw from the conflicted region.
