Trade Representative Seeks to Strengthen Asian Economic Cooperation

She met with partners and peers in Tokyo and Manila.

Trade Representative Katherine Tai spoke at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan last week, highlighting her goals of strengthening the economic partnership between the United States and its Asian allies and partners. Representative Tai flew to Tokyo after wrapping up a trip to the Philippine capital of Manila, where she reviewed negotiations for the proposed Indo-Pacific Economic Framework and explored additional ways to bolster each others’ supply chains.

In Japan, The U.S. trade representative met with Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura, where they discussed trade agreements to lift export limits for U.S. beef and ethanol. Representative Tai said that this partnership will bring “tangible results for our workers, small businesses, and producers on both sides of the Pacific.”
