Environmental Impact Statement Drafted for Western Dams

Interior Department proposes alternative schedule for Glen Canyon and Hoover Dams.

The Department of the Interior released a draft of the supplemental environmental impact statement for the updated operations of the Glen Canyon and Hoover Dams. Both dams are connected to the Colorado River, and the proposed updates to their operation schedules would work to preserve the dwindling water supply in the Colorado River Basin. The dams are currently operating on interim guidelines, which will expire in 2026. The proposed operating schedule updates would be instated after the interim guidelines expire.

“Recognizing the severity of the worsening drought, the Biden-Harris administration is bringing every tool and every resource to bear through the President’s Investing in America agenda to protect the stability and sustainability of the Colorado River System now and into the future,” said Deputy Secretary Tommy Beaudreau.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Deputy Secretary Beaudreau as he fulfills his role in the Interior Department.
  • For U.S. officials as they review and propose solutions to the drought and reduced water supply in the Colorado River Basin.
  • For wisdom for Secretary Deb Haaland as she heads the Department of the Interior.
