Synergy

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.  Ecclesiastes 4:9

Have you ever worked at something alone, perhaps washing dishes after a potluck, and then others joined in to help? How quickly the work goes, and much more enjoyable, with assistance and fellowship. God did not intend for you to walk the Christian life alone. Jesus had the twelve disciples and women, such as Mary, Joanna, and Susanna, who supported His ministry. Paul had fellow workers spreading the gospel such as Barnabas, Titus, and Timothy.

The church is not an organization but a family. As the song says, “God is my Father, Jesus is my brother, and the blessed Holy Spirit is my guide. The devil’s no relation. For I’m a new creation. I’m a member of the family of God.” And He has a big family. The members of the Church are all part of the family. As Jesus did, He intends for you to settle within a particular local church or ministry.

The work you do in your church or ministry has a synergistic effect when united. This means that two working together can accomplish more than the sum of what individuals can do. Also, sorrows are easier to bear and victories are more joyfully celebrated with entwined hearts.

Pray that the church in the United States and throughout the world will grow in love and unity. Pray for the mission God has put on each heart to be accomplished beyond what anyone can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Thank God for the brothers and sisters in Christ that the Lord has put in your life and pray for them consistently. You have brothers and sisters in government also—be faithful in praying for them!

10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. 11 For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, 12 saying,

“I will tell of your name to my brothers;
    in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.”

13 And again,

“I will put my trust in him.”

And again,

“Behold, I and the children God has given me.”

14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
